Dr. Franklin Kase dedicated his life to his family and to fighting for podiatric physicians to be treated equivalent to our allopathic and osteopathic colleagues. His fervent advocacy and devotion of his time benefited podiatric physicians nationwide for four decades. He achieved many successes leading major national insurers to change policies and protocols impacting equal pay for equal work and scope of practice, and credentialing and privileging practices with insurers and health systems alike.
Dr. Kase’s passion may have been health policy, but he cared about all of his colleagues. He served as the California Podiatric Medical Association president in 2003-2004 and as the American Podiatric Medical Association committee chair of health policy. Dr. Kase made practicing podiatric medicine better for all podiatric physicians.
This scholarship will be awarded to a third- or fourth-year student with a GPA 3.0 or higher who has demonstrated an interest in health policy or exhibits integrity, compassion towards their colleagues and strong leadership skills.
